JOB SUMMARYThe Diabetes Peer has a deep knowledge of their community and is a cultural mediator between their church/faith community and the Baylor Scott & White Health system. They work closely with Community Health and Diabetes Educators to provide basic diabetes and health education, informal counseling and self-management support that is culturally appropriate to their specific setting.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLEAssists with the tailoring of a faith-based diabetes educational program that is relevant to the unique beliefs of the faith community of the Diabetes Peer.Promotes the provision of culturally competent care by educating the Diabetes Health & Wellness Institute (DHWI) staff about beliefs and practices w
