Duke University Health System - Duke 2J GI - Manometry Clinic seeks to hire a CNII Registered Nurse who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together.
The Duke 2J - GI Clinic deliver comprehensive and aggressive care to patients with a wide range of rheumatic conditions and gynecological services. Each treatment plan is tailored to fit the individual patient's needs and lifestyle.
This clinic has a multi-disciplinary team that provides GI care to its patients. This position will work directly with patients one on one to complete a Manometry study. A manometry study is a RN performed test that requires the nurse to insert a catheter with sensors through the nose into the esophagus and get a reading of swallows from patient. This position works in tandem with another manometry nurse to coordinate procedures and communicate with GI esophageal providers. The Motility nurse is also cross-trained to help provide coverage in the GI clinic when needed. 2J Gastroenterology Nurse helps coordinate care for clinic visits to our different GI specialties including General GI, IBD patients, biliary, liver and esophageal specialists. Duties include clinic check in, assisting providers in exam rooms as needed, after visit orders for sample collections, immunizations and some endoscopy scheduling and patient teaching. The clinic is located on the DUH campus in Duke South.
This position is day shift- specific times could be M-F 8hr/day or 4/10hr days. No weekends or holidays. No on-call required.
Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.
Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care.
Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
Assist other nursing personnel in the de livery of nursing care and act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned.
Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources.
Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
Act as preceptor and support the development of other staff and formal learners.
Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and in performance improvement activities. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and NCA Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process

Working knowledge and completion of appropriate JCAHO and other regulatory requirements
Must have an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma. (All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.)
Must have current or compact RN license in the State of North Carolina
BCLS certification is required.

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.
