About the Pediatric Endocrinology Division at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital
The Pediatric Endocrinology Division at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital cares for patients that encompass the full spectrum of pediatric endocrinology. Our very active and robust diabetes program is only one of three pediatric divisions in the state with ADA recognition. The team currently includes six physicians, two ARNPs that are primarily dedicated to diabetic patients, and two RN CDEs and three/four R.D C.D.Es that handle inpatient/outpatient diabetes education. Our division also participates in several multidisciplinary clinics including the hematology-oncology brain tumor clinic, the genetic 22 Q clinic, the adolescent bariatric program in collaboration with adult bariatric surgery, and the gender clinic in collaboration with two of our providers. In addition, a multi-disciplinary weight management program for younger patients and non-surgical patients who require weight management is being finalized.
Ample teaching opportunities are available. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital provides a full 3-year pediatric residency program, has an affiliation with FAU medical school, and participates in both residency and medical school teaching programs. Medical students from FAU, FIU and Nova rotate through our division for exposure to pediatric endocrinology.
