Bay Pines VA Behavioral Health Services is actively recruiting a License Practical Nurse for the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP). All applicants should have previous psychiatric/mental health nursing experience and should be knowledgeable of a range of common psychiatric/mental health and addictive disorders including management of behavioral emergencies. Routine admissions will be voluntary and cover a wide range of mental health & addiction disorders. The successful candidate will assist in management of psychiatric/mental health emergencies, have therapeutic interactions with patients, and assist with treatment plans. The LPN will work under the direction of RN and be accountable to the nurse manager or their designate. This position may require standing and walking for extended periods of time as well as hearing and vision corrected to the near normal range. LPN will perform other duties under the direction of the nurse manager or designee as assigned. Duties and knowledge required upon entry, will include but are not limited to: Documentation Diabetic checks Point of care testing including FSG, EKGs, urine drug screens, and breathalyzer testing Administration of vaccinations and medications (oral and IM/SQ) Vital signs Safety and security rounds Hazardous items/contraband inspections He/she will provide education to the patient on disease processes and treatment plans as well as follow-up Perform other duties under the direction of the registered nurse and nurse manager as assigned Computer literate, have mastery over keyboarding and general competency with common e-mail and word processing procedures The LPN will assist with COVID duties to include COVID/infection control screening of patients, visitors, and employees. FIT Testing may be required Work Schedule: All Tours (7:30am - 8pm and 7:30pm-8am) with Weekend Rotation Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position. This position will require standing and walking for extended periods of time as well as hearing and vision corrected to the near normal range. Ability to work outside in COVID swabbing tent when assigned to COVID duties.
