This is an open and continuous announcement which will be used to fill Nursing Assistant positions in the Community Living Center at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. The nursing assistant functions within his/her functional statement and under the supervision of Registered and Licensed Practical Nurses. Services are primarily provided to residents in need of restorative/rehabilitative or skilled care, pulmonary rehabilitation, acutely ill residents (on ACTU) and those requiring respite and end of life care. The resident population consists of individuals with acute and chronic diseases of the neuromuscular system, chronic wounds, acute and chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, respiratory diseases, heart failure, hypertension, S/P CVA, S/P treatment for carcinoma and those with cognitive and functional impairments including mobility deficits, incontinence, AOL deficits, delirium, suicidality, alcohol intoxication and confusion. Nursing assistants attend and participate in interdisciplinary meetings. Duties if this position include, but are not limited to: Applies warm and cold compresses Safely operates and cares for equipment (lift equipment) Performs post mortem care Vital signs including pain level data collection Height/weight Intake/output Ambulation Turning/reposition/transfer activities and passive range of motion activities Mobility aids assistance - walkers, cane wheelchair Applies skin protection, incontinence care products (non-medicated) Performs computerized resident record functions satisfactorily as related to the position including documentation of care given and results of obtained tests Current CPR Certification (AHA Healthcare Provider or Red Cross Professional Rescuer) Performs CPR and takes appropriate action in emergency situations (fire, disaster, etc.) Application of TED hose, JOBST stockings, ace bandages Performs blood glucose testing Work schedule: 7:30AM to 8:00PM and 7:30AM to 4:00PM and 7:30PM to 8:00AM and 11:30PM to 8:00AM (Day shifts and night shifts available: Variable Monday through Sunday, every other weekend and holiday required) Compressed/Flexible Schedule: Available Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required Virtual: This a not a virtual position.
