This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Nurse Practitioner (NP), Diabetes Program Nurse Ill functions as a member of the Diabetes Team. He/she is an expert in outpatient diabetes services. He/She provides medical management of patients with diabetes and pre-diabetes. This individual is qualified and willing to assist attending physicians in the Endocrine and diabetes clinic by evaluating new and follow-­up patients, performing histories and physical exams, ordering ancillary tests, providing patient education, making phone calls, writing prescriptions, interpreting and managing lab results. Additionally, he/she is the functional leader for the diabetes team, coordinating diabetes program initiatives and assessing outcomes. He/she manages insulin pumps and specialized regimens for complex diabetics. In a leadership role, the NP manages patients and interacts effectively with peers. He/she participates in interdisciplinary efforts to help the medical center meet performance measures related to diabetes. To serve as the coordinator for the RHJ VAMC Outpatient American Diabetes Association (ADA) Recognition Diabetes Education Program. Will organize, lead and provide the agenda and minutes for the annual outpatient ADA Advisory Panel Meetings. To work with nursing, dietary and other departments necessary to submit the required documentation to maintain the certification for the RHJ VAMC ADA outpatient recognition program. In addition, experience with inpatient diabetes management is preferred . Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0730 - 1600 Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
