| Overview Fairview Pharmacy Services founded one of the nations earliest and most comprehensive Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs in partnership with the University Of Minnesota College Of Pharmacy in 1997. The Fairview MTM program provides comprehensive medication management (CMM) services following the philosophy of Pharmaceutical Care. In 2020, we cared for more than 12,000 patients, expanded to over 50 clinic locations in specialty and primary care clinics, have implemented a system-wide collaborative practice agreement (CPA) encompassing 20+ disease states, and continue to lead the way in clinical pharmacy practice advancements. We contract directly with payers and employers to provide their members and employees with MTM services. Our MTM pharmacists work with patients and their providers to start, stop and change medications to achieve the best results, prevent interactions, avoid unnecessary medications and reduce medication cost if possible. From a population health approach, we focus on high-complexity patients including patients transitioning from hospitals and patients with multiple co-morbidities not meeting their clinical goals. The Fairview MTM program has published our results including a 12 to 1 return on investment through reduced medical costs. Clinical factors, such as diabetes outcomes, medication adherence and hospital readmission rates are also improved. Join the largest MTM department in the state of Minnesota as a Student Pharmacist! As a 2nd or 3rd Year Student Pharmacist you will work within an experienced MTM practice with over 45 MTM practitioners, become exposed to MTM business practices, and enjoy no weekend requirements! The MTM Student Pharmacist program offers a unique opportunity to learn about the business side of MTM and develop skills necessary for building a successful practice: patient recruitment, scheduling, and billing. Students will learn about third party payers and how to determine coverage for patients. MTM practitioner shadowing will be included and clinical assignments may be offered if schedule allows. This position is a combination of an office and home-based setting and interns will work closely with MTM Coordinators.
Primary Intern Responsibilities Provide overall support to Fairviews MTM business.
The MTM Student Pharmacist will work daytime hours Monday-Friday with a minimum of 5 hours per week. Increased hours available through summer months if desired. Education: Minimum Education: Enrolled as a 2nd or 3 rd Year Student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus beginning Fall of 2021. Minimum Licensure Requirements: Applicant should have current or pending Pharmacy Intern registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy. Experience: Preferred Experience: Previous pharmacy or medical experience, EPIC experience and strong interest in MTM Pharmacy Additional Requirements: Applicant should have excellent customer service skills, be proficient in the English language, have good attention to detail, ability to problem solve effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills and excellent communication and customer service skills.
