The Trauma Registrar is responsible for the development, implementation, and participation in trauma registry practices that ensure accurate data, timely data entry and timely reporting to meet ACS Trauma Center requirements. This person is an active member of the multidisciplinary trauma team to support patient quality and performance improvement initiatives. The Trauma Registrar will monitor the care provided to each trauma patient, collect information daily, report it for inclusion in the trauma registry database, and accurately perform hospital based coding and injury severity scoring. The Trauma Registrar assists the Trauma Program Manager, the Trauma Medical Director and the Director of Quality in the analysis of registry data, the development and publication of registry reports, and the disseminating of trauma information.

Regulatory and Policy Compliance
Maintains current professional license and/or professional certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS, NRP or PALS) as required by job description. Completes PPD test, Fit Mask testing timely (employees with direct patient contact only), and job specific Employee Health requirements (if any) timely.
Maintains annual competencies in department and scope of practice.
Completes Annual Ethics and Compliance requirements and Annual Update within specified timeframe.
Completes all .edu courses on time (attach transcript) - not late if on LOA when due - please note on transcript.
Adheres to SVRMC policies and procedures, professional/regulatory practice acts and state/federal regulations including Joint Commission, Title XXII, and CDPH requirements, as applicable.
Demonstrates understanding and implementation of National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures.
Ensures customer/employee privacy & confidentiality, including HIPAA.
Follows hospital policies for punctuality, and attendance.

Active Az. RN License
Preferred:
Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CTRS) certification on hire preferred.
EDUCATION:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Associates Degree or equivalent
Preferred:
Bachelor of Arts Degree or Bachelor of Science Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Clinical Experience in Trauma Nursing in either the Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Peri-Operative Services, Trauma required. Working knowledge of trauma care, medical terminology and anatomy required. Strong problem solving, project management, group facilitation, teamwork and customer service abilities required.
Preferred:
Emergency Department, Critical Care or Surgical Services preferred but not required. Current working knowledge of ACS standards, recommendations and trauma center requirements preferred. Trauma Registrar with at least 2 years registry experience in an ACS accredited program preferred. Recent experience in a designated trauma center preferred.
