The Division of Endocrinology includes five pediatric endocrinologists, two pediatric nurse practitioners, five clinical nurses, an APN clinical nurse specialist, two dietitians (1 FTE), a social worker, and a child psychologist. There are six CDEs within the Diabetes team. The Division of Endocrinology provides services for complex endocrine system disorders with major clinical programs focused on growth disorders, Turner Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Lipid Disorders, Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, and metabolic bone disease in a comprehensive and state-of-the-art facility. The Division is an official referral center for the newborn screening programs for the states of Missouri and Illinois. The Division has recently developed a highly successful program to transition adolescents with diabetes to adult care.
The Department of Pediatrics of Saint Louis University School of Medicine is based at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis, adjacent to Saint Louis University Medical Center. The Department has approximately 120 full-time faculty and another 20 part-time faculty. The Department has outstanding educational programs for residents and medical students. The research interests of the faculty span both clinical and basic science. Faculty within the department are funded by more than 15 organizations, foundations and grants. These organizations include the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the March of Dimes.
